sure they are–not that I’ve eaten fox, but I’m sure it’s fillet mignon in a survival situation.
kwstikas82 on Sun, 22nd Nov 2009 2:34 pm
by the way, are foxes edible? :-/

nice man haha this helped me alot but i found out you can also use very small diameter fishing line to hold the feathers but that is if you have fishing line

I’ve been watching and enjoying your videos for quite a while. You are very good at what you do. As an avid fly tyer and fisherman I must say that I’m quite impressed with your injinuity, I’ll have to try that myself. I wish you the best of luck with your Discovery venture, and I look forward to your next video.

You can also bait your hooks with bread, or pieces of biscuit and use them to catch ducks and geese.

jrdcrpntr on Sun, 22nd Nov 2009 2:34 pm
yeah dental floss would work just fine, a lot of people try and make really intricate flies but i have found the simpler they are to tie the better they work
wildlifeed on Sun, 22nd Nov 2009 2:34 pm
Very interesting Dave!! as a fky fisher and tyer, this is a rather cool concept. I have a few tricks to make your flies easier, but that little sucker will work. In fact I have tied grass around a hook before and caught brookies. What ever gets you your food is ideal in a survival or primitive living situation. 5/5 and Faved!!

Dental floss goes in all my kits, or into my pocket if I don’t have a kit. For winding the feathers on, I’d think that would work pretty well, but not being a fly fisher I’m not positive.
Guitararcher on Sun, 22nd Nov 2009 2:34 pm
Wouldnt it make sense to just put flys in your kit? You can put bait on a fly just a well as you can a regular hook. Heck you dont even need to make a fly for bluegills, they will bit a bare hook!
dlvmark on Sun, 22nd Nov 2009 2:34 pm
I think it lip balm, Blistics?
dlvmark on Sun, 22nd Nov 2009 2:34 pm
Great tip!
dlvmark on Sun, 22nd Nov 2009 2:34 pm
Wind line near the handle first. As the line winds on move it toward the front, That way when you shoot your arrow the line comes off smoothly
